Dr. Samo Peter Medved, a university-graduated civil engineer with a doctorate, has been active in the field of civil engineering for over 35 years. As a long-standing designer of civil engineering structures, long-time CEO and co-owner of Lineal — one of the largest engineering companies in Slovenia — he has participated in the most demanding projects at home and abroad.
In addition to his professional career, he has always been active in the professional sphere and engaged in the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers, where he served as President of the Civil Engineers Section and member of the IZS Board. He is currently a member of the Board of the Civil Engineers Section. He was a long-standing member of the Board of the Consulting Engineering Association at the Chamber of Commerce and founder and member of the Board of SIBIM — the Slovenian Association for Building Information Modelling, its honorary member and one of the pioneers of digitalization in the Slovenian construction sector.
He is the President of the Programme Council at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transport and Architecture in Maribor for the field of civil engineering and member of the Programme Council of the Society for Road and Transport Research of Slovenia, and organizer of numerous professional events.
He is the author of many scientific and professional articles in the fields of civil engineering, geotechnics, transport infrastructure, traffic, mobility and BIM, and a lecturer. He has been a co-mentor to many graduates and leader of research projects. He led the working group of authors that prepared the strategic document Action Plan for the Introduction of Digitalization in the Built Environment of Slovenia.
